A fine Friedrich Goldscheider terracotta bust, ‘Negresse au Papillion’, c. 1893. Sculpted by T. du Piemont as a beautiful African girl, wearing a headdress, and observing a butterfly that has alighted upon her shoulder.
 
Set upon a squared pedestal base, mounted with a plaque inscribed ‘Negresse au Papillion, par T. du Piemont’.
 
Impressed model number 1102, along with 61 over 5.
 
Height – 68 cm, 26 3/4”.
 
Width – 43.5 cm, 17 2/8”.
 
Depth – 27 cm, 10 5/8”.
 
Condition – Some minor wear to the glaze. No restoration.
