Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Transferware stone china refers to durable earthenware developed during the 19th century, featuring decorative designs applied via copperplate printing before glazing. The process allowed for precise reproductions of detailed artwork, topographical landscapes, and intricate borders on everyday tableware.

Stone china was composed of refined clay mixed with ground flint and feldspar, fired at high temperatures to achieve a dense, vitreous body. Designs were printed from engraved copper plates onto tissue paper using cobalt or mineral pigments, transferred onto the unglazed vessel, and protected under a clear lead glaze.

Authentic late Victorian transferware typically displays crisp underglaze printing, makers backstamps pressed or printed on the base, and slight variations in print alignment near curves. The ceramic body usually exhibits weight and density typical of ironstone or stone china formulations from the period.

An antique platter can be mounted on a plate display stand atop a sideboard or framed inside a shallow shadow box. Hanging multiple transferware platters in a symmetrical arrangement on a dining room or hallway wall creates a striking focal point.

Preserve antique transferware by washing gently by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding abrasive pads and dishwashers. Store platters horizontally or secure them safely in padded wall hangers away from direct impact and extreme temperature fluctuations.
