This 18th century Chinese tulipiere dates from the Qing Dynasty period, specifically c.1790-95. The bulbous vessel is constructed from hand painted blue and white porcelain with a vibrant cobalt blue glaze. The decoration incorporates underglaze painting showing a dynamic dragon chasing a flaming pearl alongside bamboo stalks on the central body. A key fret border encircles the upper shoulder below multiple tulip apertures that surround a central lotus bud finial. The domed base displays elaborate floral scrollwork and detailed scrolling feet at the underside. The underside contains a four-character Qianlong mark in the Kaishu script. Measuring 30 cm high, 17 cm wide, and 17 cm deep, this piece makes a striking decorative addition when placed upon a prominent sideboard top in a traditional interior space.
