Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Staffordshire pearlware cottage money box originates from the Georgian period in 1850. The earthenware piece is finished with a white glaze and decorated with a cobalt blue roof, green moss details, painted floral sprigs, and a brown arched doorway. Visible details include a brickwork pattern moulded onto the facade, white birds perched among the branches, and small black-outlined windows beside the entrance, alongside losses to the moss and the chimney. The object measures 14 cm high, 11 cm wide, and 11 cm deep. Positioned on a mantelpiece, the money box serves as a decorative accessory within an English Country House interior. The compact ceramic construction allows for placement on shelves, sideboards, or display cabinets. The traditional cottage facade and hand-painted enamel elements provide a focal point for collectors of antique Staffordshire pottery or period ceramics.

FAQs

Clean gently using a soft, dry brush or microfibre cloth to remove dust, avoiding full immersion in water, harsh detergents, or abrasive materials that could strip the enamel surface.

A ceramic cottage money box functions as a decorative accent when positioned on a bookshelf, mantelpiece, or console table alongside framed artwork or potted botanical elements.

Authentic pearlware displays a characteristic blue or bluish-green pooling in glaze runs and crevices, hand-applied enamel details, firing marks, and minor variations indicative of early industrial production methods.

These items were moulded from earthenware clay, coated in a lead glaze containing small amounts of cobalt oxide to create a white finish with blue-tinted crevices, and decorated with polychrome enamels.

A Staffordshire pearlware money box is an earthenware savings vessel manufactured in the Staffordshire potteries region of England, primarily during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, designed in ornamental shapes such as cottages or figures.
