Cased Antique French Pomander Scent Bottle Hand-painted with Flowers , Enamel, Gilt, Porcelain

Description

Antique French pomander scent bottle in its original fitted case. Porcelain teardrop body is hand-painted with polychrome enamels and richly gilded. One side of the perfume bottle is decorated with flowers, the other with ornate borders and scrolls. The leather presentation box is lined with royal blue silk and velvet and bears the retailer's mark of "WT Story, Jewellers, Dewsbury", a luxury store that was opened in 1882.

Date: c. 1890's

8.3 cm tall with stopper

3.5 cm wide

1.5 cm deep

Very good antique condition. The stopper is original and fully functional; no damage or restoration to the bottle; light wear to paint to and gilt appropriate to age and use; wear to box.
