Large Blue & White Persian Charger

Description

This is a wonderful Faience dish dating from the early 19th Century, from Multan, one of the oldest cities in the Indian subcontinent. The dish is hand painted in rich shades of blue and turquoise and shows Sita and Rama walking in a garden within a broad border of birds. It has painted and impressed marks to the base. This has some imperfections and slight losses to the enamelling around the edge but otherwise is in great condition and is a good size, measuring 47 cms in diameter.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
