Description

A rare pair of George Jones cheese dishes/dome, dating to circa 1875. Originally used for English Stilton, these now offer a variety of useful purposes in the country kitchen, whilst also being very desirable amongst collectors.

A good pair of dishes of basket weave design, with trailing geraniums around, topped with floral decoration and triple branch finial. There is an impressed “Crescent” mark for George Jones & Sons under the plate, and numbered 6887 (1) and 6887 (2).

We believe the factory made this particular model is a blue/turquoise, however the cream not often seen and a fitting colour for the classic interior!

In excellent overall condition, light rubbing and wear to the paint and with fine craquelure, all commensurate with age and use.
