A Large English Period Oval Mirror C. 1760-1800

Description

Wonderfully carved frame with foliage decoration, typical of the period.

Frame has been re-gilded in the Victorian era, gilding is water/oil gilt and has a lovely mellow look. Some minor nibbles to the gesso/carving all consistent with its age.

Originally this would have framed a period portrait, now housing a piece of 19thC mirror plate.
