Victorian Gilt Wall Mirror in the Regency Style

Description

A good quality Victorian giltwood rectangular wall mirror in the Regency style with central sunburst design with circular bevelled glass mirror plate bordered by floral leaf design. The mirror is flanked with four fluted and burnished Corinthian column with further bevelled glass mirrors. There are applied Neoclassical figures to the inset top panels, and the frame is finished with balls to the top moulding.

The original mirror plates are in very good condition.

Height - 95.5 cm (37 ½ inches)

Width - 138.5 cm (54 ½ inches)

Depth - 8 cm (3 ¼ inches)

Circa - 1880

This Victorian overmantel wall mirror dates to 1880 and takes inspiration from the Regency style. The rectangular giltwood frame displays a brilliant gold finish throughout, combining flat burnished surfaces with intricate relief work. At the centre sits a circular bevelled glass mirror plate within a sunburst design, bordered by a floral leaf pattern and flanked by two tall rectangular mirrored sections.
