Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique side chair dates from 1920 and follows the Queen Anne style. The timber has a warm brown polished finish, and the upholstered sections are covered in peach damask fabric with braided gimp trim along the seat edge. The piece has a shaped crest rail and a padded back with a polished walnut reverse. The front cabriole legs display acanthus leaf carving at the knees, while the back legs are swept out. The dimensions are 82.6 cm high, 39.4 cm wide, and 52.1 cm deep. Such a seating option fits comfortably in a bedroom or dressing area as a traditional dressing table chair. The compact proportions allow it to slide beneath a vanity or sit quietly beside a chest of drawers. The neutral peach upholstery and warm wood tones integrate easily into various bedroom schemes while providing a practical, comfortable seat for daily routines.

FAQs

Position an antique side chair as a standalone accent item in a bedroom corner, beside a hallway console table, or paired with contemporary neutral furniture to introduce visual texture and historic contrast.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually following the grain direction, and gently vacuum the fabric upholstery using a soft brush attachment.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved accents, natural timber patination, hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, and subtle hand-tooled irregularities in the frame beneath the surface finish.

These chairs were typically built using native or imported walnut wood for the visible frame, crafted with mortise and tenon joinery, and padded with natural horsehair or fibre beneath woven upholstery.

An antique walnut side chair is an armless seat constructed with a frame of solid or veneered walnut wood, frequently characterised by cabriole legs and detailed timber carvings common during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
