A stunning 19th Century giltwood overmantel or hall mirror in the manner of Adams and of exceptional quality. The finely hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with exquisitely detailed Neoclassical motifs throughout is surmounted with a stepped, broken swan neck pediment with centred shell flanked with a gorgeous arrangement of scrolls and trailing foliate, above a panelled and fluted deep frieze with acanthus leaves, swags of bellhusks, ribbon bows and applied flowered paterae motif detail, set within beaded row borders. The bevelled mirror glass plate below of oval form with foliate border is flanked a further arrangement of scrolls, trailing foliate and two elegantly simple, fluted pilaster columns with candle holders to each side, supported on shaped platform base.
