Arts and Crafts mirrors feature hand-crafted construction, stylized natural motifs, and a focus on the natural grain of native hardwoods like oak, reacting against mass industrial production.

These mirrors were primarily constructed using solid quarter-sawn English oak, hand-carved relief detailing, bevelled silvered glass, and hand-forged brass or copper mounting chains.

Authentic pieces feature visible gouge marks from hand carving tools, honest joinery, natural timber patination, and stylized botanical motifs rather than machine-cut precision.

Position the mirror above a mantelpiece or entryway console table to allow the textured relief carving to contrast against modern paint finishes and natural plaster.

Dust regularly using a soft dry brush to clean within the relief carving, and apply a light coating of natural beeswax polish annually while avoiding harsh glass cleaners near the timber.
