Regency convex mirrors, often called bullseye or bankers mirrors, gained popularity in Britain during the early 19th century as both functional optical devices and decorative interior centerpieces.

These mirrors typically feature a spherical glass plate set within a turned wooden frame, adorned with gesso, plaster, and gold leaf gilding, often featuring reeded ebony inner bezels and crestings.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit hand-blown convex glass with minor distortions or foxing, hand-carved or molded gesso details over pine or hardwood, and historic backboards with period fixings.

A convex mirror works effectively as a focal point in a living room, hallway, or above a fireplace mantel, reflecting light and creating a wide-angle fisheye perspective of the space.

To preserve the delicate gilt surface, dust gently with a soft dry brush and avoid chemical cleaners or moisture, keeping the mirror away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity.
