Magnificent large armchair in Welsh oak, with a square curved back with fluted vertical slats enclosing a pair of horizontal bars containing turned balls, with outward-sweeping arms supported on turned columns, over a solid panelled single-piece seat, raised on square legs united by stretchers.
This is a sophisticated and expertly-made chair, with a good rake towards the rear.
Excellent condition and surface, which would benefit from a wax polish.
Carmarthenshire, west Wales, circa 1790.
