Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III seating design, spanning from 1760 to 1820, is characterised by balanced proportions, functional geometry, and fretwork backrests including pierced splats. Furniture from this era frequently incorporates design influences from Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite.

Georgian chairs were constructed primarily from solid native hardwoods like oak and walnut, as well as imported mahogany. Cabinetmakers utilised traditional wood joinery, including pegged mortise and tenon joints, corner blocks, and H-pattern stretchers for stability.

Authentic 18th-century oak chairs feature evidence of hand-planing, minor tool marks, pegged joinery, and natural shrinkage across the grain over time. Wear patterns on the front stretchers and structural oxidation around iron fittings also indicate historical age.

A Georgian oak armchair can function as a desk chair in a home office, an accent chair in a hallway, or positioned at the head of a dining table. Combining dark timber with neutral contemporary fabrics and minimalist decor creates a clear visual contrast.

Antique oak furniture requires regular dusting with a dry lint-free cloth and occasional applications of natural beeswax polish to maintain moisture levels in the wood. Position the item away from direct heat sources and sunlight to avoid timber movement or shrinkage.
