This Regency mahogany cheval mirror stands on splayed legs fitted with original brass castors, supporting a pivoting full-length glass plate within a rectangular frame. The warm brown timber is complemented by turned upright columns, urn finials at the top corners, and two transverse turned stretchers at the top and base. Side brass knobs allow the mirror to adjust its angle, and it holds its position securely when pivoted. The piece measures 160.6 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 57.8 cm deep overall. Suitable for a bedroom, dressing room, or hallway, this full-length mirror offers practical daily use while introducing traditional period style to an interior. The surface exhibits expected signs of age and wear consistent with a genuine antique furniture piece of this era.

A Regency cheval mirror is a full-length, free-standing dressing mirror suspended within a timber frame, introduced in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to provide an adjustable viewing angle.

These mirrors were constructed primarily from dense timbers such as mahogany or rosewood, featuring turned upright supports, brass adjustment handles, and silvered glass plates.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-turned upright columns, brass urn finials, original brass castors on splayed legs, and hand-cut timber backing panels.

Positioning a free-standing cheval mirror in a dressing room, bedroom corner, or wide hallway reflects natural light while adding historical structure to minimalist interior decor.

Maintain the timber frame by applying natural beeswax polish along the grain, and clean the glass plate with a soft dry cloth to prevent moisture damage to the silvering.
