Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

A wheelback Windsor chair is a traditional form of English vernacular seating featuring a solid wood seat into which the legs and spindled back structure are socketed, distinguished by a central back splat pierced with a wheel motif.

Windsor chairs were traditionally constructed using regional hardwoods, combining shaped elm for the solid seat, steam-bent ash or yew for the back bow, and turned beech or ash for the legs and stretcher rails.

Authentic 18th-century Windsor chairs feature hand-shaped saddle seats with prominent grain, wedged tenon joinery visible through the seat, hand-turned legs displaying slight asymmetries, and subtle hand-tool marks.

Windsor chairs can be positioned around modern dining tables to create an eclectic aesthetic, placed singly in entryways, or paired alongside upholstered sofas to introduce organic texture to contemporary rooms.

Preserve antique timber furniture by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, applying natural beeswax sparingly along the wood grain twice yearly, and placing pieces away from direct heat sources to prevent shrinkage.
