We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

A Regency pier glass mirror is a tall, narrow wall mirror crafted during the early 19th century, designed specifically to hang on the wall section between two windows. These pieces often incorporate classical architectural motifs, gilded timber frames, and decorative upper glass panels.

These mirrors typically feature a carved wooden frame finished with gold leaf gilding, fitted with reflective mirror plate glass. The verre eglomise section comprises reverse-painted or reverse-gilded glass, where imagery or patterns are applied directly to the back of the glass panel.

Authentic period pier mirrors display age-appropriate signs of oxidation or foxing on the glass plate, hand-carved wood joinery on the frame reverse, and natural wear or distress on the water-gilded surface.

Position the mirror in vertical spaces such as hallways, alcoves, or above a sideboard to add depth and reflect light. Pairing historical gilded framing with clean-lined contemporary furniture creates a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Clean the front glass plate using a dry microfibre cloth, taking care not to let liquid seep behind the frame edges. Dust the gilded frame gently with a soft dry brush, avoiding water, solvents, or abrasive polishes that can lift gold leaf.
