This Edwardian wingback armchair follows a Georgian style and dates to the start of the 20th century. The seating rests upon ball and claw feet at the front and square legs with a slight sweep at the rear. The exterior showcases cream upholstery decorated with a multicolour floral pattern, accompanied by a loose seat cushion, winged sides, and rolled arms. The mahogany construction presents some slight wear visible on the arms, complemented by brass detailing along the lower front rail. Measuring 101.5 cm high, 77 cm wide, and 80 cm deep, the armchair offers comfortable seating suitable for a living room, study, or traditional hallway. The classic profile fits well within an English country house interior style.

Originating in the early 20th century, Edwardian wingback armchairs characteristically combine classical revival stylessuch as Chippendale or Queen Anne cabriole legswith high backs and flared side wings designed to trap heat and deflect draughts.

Chairs from this period typically feature solid hardwood internal frames, often mahogany or beech, combined with hand-tied coil springs, horsehair padding, and hand-carved leg ornamentation.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved detailing on the legs, historical joinery techniques like mortise and tenon joints, natural wood oxidisation on underside surfaces, and traditional foundation webbing.

Pair the chair with a modern floor lamp or place it alongside a contemporary side table to create a functional reading area that balances heritage craft with modern minimalism.

Vacuum the fabric lightly with a soft brush attachment, keep the chair away from direct sunlight to prevent fabric degradation, and apply natural beeswax to the carved wooden legs periodically.
