Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-18th century Irish Georgian furniture is characterised by robust proportions, heavy use of imported timbers such as red walnut or mahogany, and distinctive hand-carved details including shell motifs, acanthus leaves, and ball-and-claw feet.

Side chairs from this period were crafted using solid hardwoods like walnut or mahogany, assembled with traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and featured removable drop-in seat frames supported by corner blocks.

Authentic period chairs display signs of hand-tooled construction, such as hand-cut tenons, irregular saw marks on unseen surfaces, original wood shrinkage, and natural oxidisation on the underside of the frame.

A period side chair serves effectively as an accent piece in a hallway, placed beside an office desk, or mixed with contemporary dining chairs to introduce contrast and historical weight to a room.

Historic walnut furniture should be dusted regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and treated periodically with clear beeswax polish, while remaining positioned away from direct sunlight and artificial heat sources.
