A stunning 19th Century finely hand carved giltwood overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and grand proportions. The mirror glass plate of shaped, rectangular form is set within a moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous bands of lozenge and sphere motifs throughout and features beautifully decorative stylised twisted rope detail to the outermost border of the frame. The shaped top panelled top corner returns are exquistely decorated with arrangements of foliate and berries. Surmounted with an fabulous crest composition comprising of a centred stylised shell and acanthus leaves flanked c-scrolls and trailing foliate, all intricately hand carved in high relief. Supported on shaped platform base with beautiful arrangements rich foliate and c-scroll motif detail to each side.
