This 19th-century Victorian overmantel mirror hails from the English country house tradition and dates to 1870. The piece is constructed from wood and gesso finished in a gold leaf colour, forming an arched top frame with rope twist moulding running up both sides. A prominent foliate cresting sits at the peak of the arch, while ornate scroll work decorates the base corners where the uprights meet the straight lower edge.
