Large Regency Gilt-wood Convex Mirror, Circa 1815

19th century
Description

This grand Regency gilt wood convex mirror, circa 1815, embodies the elegance and craftsmanship of the period. The mirror boasts a strikingly handsome design, featuring a boldly carved gilt-wood frame that immediately commands attention. At its pinnacle, an eagle with outstretched wings holds a crystal ball suspended by a delicate chain, creating a dramatic focal point. The original convex mirror, now beautifully aged, is encased in an ebonised reeded slip frame, which sits within a deeply moulded giltwood border adorned with decorative gilt balls, adding a touch of sophistication.

The frame itself is a work of art, further embellished with intricately carved leaves and shells, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail that is synonymous with Regency style. These carvings not only enhance the mirror''s aesthetic appeal but also emphasize its historical significance. Supporting two elegantly scrolled candle sconces, complete with crystal glass trays and drops, the mirror combines functionality with decorative artistry, providing both light and luxury.

This mirror is more than just a decorative piece; it is a statement of refined taste and historical reverence. Its large presence and exquisite details make it a standout addition to any room, effortlessly blending with both contemporary and traditional interiors. This mirror offers a glimpse into the past while serving as a timeless centrepiece in any home.
