A fine Regency convex mirror in an elaborate giltwood frame, the circular frame with a border of ropetwists and beads and an egg and dart edge around an plain ebonised slip, surmounted by a carved heraldic left facing eagle resting on a twisted wreath and with scrolling carved flames issuing from it, and with below a richly carved acanthus leaf swag. English, circa 1815. Diameter of the glass: 14½”
Condition: Overall very good, the mirror is in good condition with no breaks or significant damage, there are small areas of gilding loss consistent with age, the plate may be a later replacement but this is not certain, the backboard is an early 20th century replacement. Overall the piece has a wonderful appearance, with fine carving and good detail, great gilding with a beautiful muted colour consistent with age, and excellent proportions.
