These chairs really are quite exquisite, they are what’s called a show frames, cabinet makers would craft ornately decorated chairs like this to take to exhibitions, the idea being they were so beautiful they would capture the attention of passing customers who would then commission pieces to be made with elements of this design.
The frames are solid mahogany, the leather lovely thick English hide, the seat cushions have new fiber internals
The chairs have been fully restored to include having the leather washed back, they''ve then been hand dyed six times, antiqued and sealed, the mahogany frames have been stripped back and French polished from the ground up.
