Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of four 19th century Regency dining chairs is made from dark brown mahogany and upholstered in blue and white striped fabric. Each piece has a carved scroll top rail, a central horizontal back bar with a figured panel, and newly reupholstered drop in seats. The front supports are shaped turned tapering legs while the rear ones are out swept, and the framework shows a warm polished timber finish. These chairs measure 88 cm high, 48 cm wide, and 51 cm deep with a seat height of 44 cm. They are suitable for placement around a dining table in a formal dining room or breakfast area. Their classic Regency styling also allows them to serve as occasional seating in a living space or study when extra places are needed for guests.

FAQs

Regency dining chairs, originating from early 19th-century Britain, are defined by classical proportions, elegant curves, and refined carved details such as scroll cresting rails and turned legs.

High-grade mahogany was the primary timber used due to its fine grain and durability, often paired with traditional upholstery fabrics such as striped cotton, silk, or woven horsehair.

Authentic Regency chairs feature hand-carved ornamentation, pegged joint construction, original patination, and proportional symmetry consistent with early 19th-century cabinetmaking.

These chairs can be paired with a modern marble or contemporary wooden dining table to create a balanced contrast between historical craftsmanship and clean modern lines.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth, applying beeswax periodically, and placing the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent wood movement.
