FAQs

Regency dining chairs, originating from early 19th-century Britain, feature classical Greco-Roman proportions, carved crest rails, decorative mid-rails, and turned or sabre legs.

Craftsmen primarily utilised solid mahogany or rosewood for structural strength and deep grain, paired with natural stuffings such as horsehair and woven fabric upholstery.

Authentic pieces exhibit traditional joinery like hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, natural timber oxidisation, crisp hand-carved decorative motifs, and proportional balance.

Regency chairs can be arranged around a simple modern dining table or paired with contemporary artwork to create an engaging visual dialogue between period detail and modern lines.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by applying beeswax polish annually and keeping the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent shrinkage and fabric fading.
