We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of six 19th-century Regency dining chairs dates from circa 1820 and is made from fine mahogany with a dark brown timber tone. Each chair displays carved back rests with a carved support rail, channeled detailing, and stuff-over seats upholstered in a patterned cream fabric featuring small red and green floral motifs. The frame stands on turned front legs and tapered rear legs, showing minor surface marks from use, surface staining to the upholstery, and slight compression marks to the upholstery on four of the seats from stacking. Dimensions are 81.2 cm high, 48.2 cm wide, and 45.7 cm deep, with a seat height of 16 3/4 inches, a seat depth of 16 inches, and a seat width of 19 inches. Such a suite serves dining rooms or large kitchen spaces around a formal table for daily meals or hosting guests. The classic Regency styling complements traditional or period dining settings while providing ample seating for a family. Buyers can place them as a matching set to anchor an interior dining scheme, utilising the sturdy timber construction for regular seating around the home.

Regency dining chairs typically feature neoclassical influences, refined proportions, carved crest rails, decorative mid-rails, and turned or saber legs popular in early 19th-century Britain.

Solid mahogany and rosewood were predominantly used for the frames, constructed with mortise and tenon joinery and finished with horsehair-padded upholstered seats.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved decorative motifs such as anthemions or scrolls, natural age-related patination, hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, and turned front legs paired with plain splayed rear legs.

These chairs can be paired with minimalist wooden dining tables or contemporary glass tables to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Dust the timber framework regularly with a soft cloth, apply beeswax polish along the grain once or twice a year, and keep the wood away from direct heat sources to prevent shrinkage.
