Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of six Georgian dining chairs from around 1800 comprises two carver armchairs with open wooden armrests and four matching single chairs, all constructed from dark brown mahogany with reeded frames and turned top rails. The bar backs display carved rosettes set into horizontal slats above firm beige upholstered seating, while the tapered front legs rest on the paved outdoor surface visible in the context. Each single chair measures 86.5 cm high, 51 cm wide, and 38 cm deep, providing comfortable seating in good sturdy condition with later upholstery. Position this versatile dining set around a traditional table in a formal dining room or use the individual chairs as occasional seating in a living space to introduce classic English country house character. The sturdy frame supports everyday dining use, while the neutral fabric blends easily with various interior colour schemes.

FAQs

Keep timber away from direct heat sources and moisture, dust regularly with a clean microfibre cloth, and apply a natural beeswax polish annually along the wood grain.

Pair these classical wooden chairs with a contemporary oak or stone dining table to create architectural contrast, or integrate individual carvers into an office setting.

Authentic pieces display hand-sawn timber construction, traditional pegged joints, original reeded detailing, and natural patination on timber surfaces.

Cabinetmakers primarily utilised solid mahogany timber, mortise and tenon joinery, and natural horsehair or linen stuffing for upholstered drop-in seats.

Georgian dining chairs typically feature classical proportions, reeded or turned frames, horizontal back bars with carved decoration, and rich timbers such as mahogany.
