Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Originating in the 18th century during the Georgian era, wingback armchairs were initially designed to protect sitters from drafts in unheated rooms, featuring high backs and characteristic wings to trap heat.

Authentic period pieces typically feature a sturdy hardwood frame, traditionally made from mahogany, oak, or walnut, traditionally joined and stuffed with natural fibres like horsehair before being upholstered in wool, leather, or damask.

Identification relies on examining joinery techniques, timber ageing, hand-forged fixings, and traditional upholstery methods, alongside verifying the proportions and decorative motifs characteristic of the period.

This seating style can be incorporated into contemporary spaces by pairing it with minimalist surroundings or contrasting modern side tables to highlight its classic silhouette and rich colour palette.

Preservation involves keeping the chair away from direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading, regularly vacuuming with a low-suction attachment, and consulting professional conservators for textile or frame repairs.
