Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late nineteenth century in Britain, emphasizing handcraftsmanship, simple forms, and honest expression of natural materials. Furniture from this style avoids excessive ornamentation, focusing instead on visible joints, rich timber grain, and practical utility.

Fireside chairs were traditionally constructed using solid hardwoods such as oak, mahogany, or walnut for the structural frame. Upholstery frequently incorporated natural hides, heavy wool fabrics, brass studding, and natural horsehair or fibre padding.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, sturdy square or turned legs, and functional stretchers. The patination on leather, hand-hammered brass studwork, and honest construction details without hidden fasteners help confirm period origin.

An Arts and Crafts armchair serves as a focal point in a cozy reading corner or beside a fireplace. Pairing dark leather with modern woven textiles, neutral wall paint, and minimalist floor lamps creates a balanced blend of historic texture and contemporary design.

Keep antique leather away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or cracking, applying a natural leather balm periodically. Fabric cushions should be gently vacuumed with a soft brush attachment and spot-cleaned using specialized wool or upholstery cleaners.
