FAQs

Venetian mirrors originated on the island of Murano near Venice, Italy, where master glassmakers developed advanced techniques for silvering and etching glass during the Renaissance.

These mirrors typically feature hand-blown glass elements, intricate wheel-engraved motifs, and applied glass ornamentation fixed to a wooden backing board with brass screws and clips.

Authentic pieces often display minor imperfections in the glass, hand-cut bevels, mercury silvering oxidation, and hand-engraved floral patterns rather than machine-moulded details.

They serve as focal points in contemporary living spaces, reflecting light and adding textural contrast when paired with minimalist furniture and neutral colour schemes.

Clean gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical sprays that can damage the silver backing, and maintain stable indoor humidity levels to protect the wooden frame.
