This 1930s Art Deco cheval dressing mirror is constructed from figured walnut with a warm brown timber colour, clear glass panels, and small brass drawer pulls. The structure incorporates a freestanding design with a triple bevelled tri-fold glass layout, featuring an arched central U-shaped surround, rectangular side wings, small side drawers positioned beneath the outer mirrors, and a stepped plinth base supported by shaped block feet. Measuring 179 cm high, 120 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, the surface displays a restored finish with visible natural wood grain patterns across the timber components. Positioned in a bedroom dressing area, hallway, or entrance space, this freestanding mirror provides both a full-length reflective surface and integrated storage compartments for everyday accessories.

Art Deco mirrors from the 1930s are characterised by bold geometric shapes, clean symmetrical lines, and the lavish use of highly figured wood veneers such as walnut and mahogany, combined with functional features like tri-fold panels.

These mirrors typically feature solid timber frames finished with highly decorative walnut or burr walnut veneers, silvered plate glass, and brass or chrome hardware fittings.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period construction techniques, including dovetailed drawer joints, original silvering on the glass with subtle foxing, and characteristic streamlined, curved, or stepped architectural forms.

A standing walnut cheval mirror serves as a focal point in a master bedroom or dressing room, pairing well with neutral upholstery, polished metals, and minimalist contemporary cabinetry.

Dust wood surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly; clean the glass with a lint-free cloth and mild glass cleaner, avoiding contact with the wooden frame.
