Webberley Antiques has dated this Victorian Giltwood Overmantel Mirror to the 19th Century.
All hand carved with red bole and gesso and gilded in pure gold.

The arched cornice of running acanthus leaves and scrolls crested by a large C scroll and below this a small cartouche of central open flower head.
The plinth with shaped apron with central roundel cartouche flanked by the large acanthus sprays and projected wide shapely feet.

The mirror plate is in excellent condition. Very thick glass and giving a wonderful deep reflection. This may be the original plate or a late 19th century/early 20th century replacement.
Retaining the original and substantial oak panelled back with a later bar added above and brass brackets added to this and to the bottom plinth so that the mirror can be wall hung.
Absolutely stunning and extremely rare in this very large size.
With no significant issues or worm or damage.
Strongly recommended
