School House Antiques has dated this Carolean Carved Walnut Armchair to the 17th Century.
This high-backed armchair is a classic example of the William and Mary period. The tall back is surmounted by an elaborately carved and pierced cresting rail . The uprights are finely turned, and the arms are boldly scrolled with carved handholds.

The frame retains a lovely deep original colour and excellent surface patina. It has been newly upholstered in a high-quality beige fabric with a subtle geometric pattern. The chair is solid, very comfortable and in fully usable condition.
A stylish and practical piece of late 17th century walnut furniture that combines strong architectural design with genuine comfort.
