A neat antique stripped captain’s armchair in the traditional manner, likely beech with an elm seat. The chair has a shaped horseshoe back and arms raised on turned spindle supports. The solid shaped seat is raised on four turned legs with double stretcher supports beneath. The chair has been stripped, leaving traces of the original finish throughout which contrast well against the lighter timber and give the piece a good honest appearance.
