This large 19th-century Victorian overmantel mirror in a French Chateau style forms a substantial rectangular wall hanging. The piece consists of a wooden frame with a gold-coloured giltwood and gesso finish, accented by carved acanthus leaf motifs at the top corners and bead moulding running along the inner border. The visible construction includes flat top rails and structural mitred joins showing aged wear, surface crackling and some areas of exposed dark base material beneath the gilding.
