Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian cast iron garden seating gained immense popularity during the mid-to-late nineteenth century due to advances in foundry casting techniques. Foundries produced ornate patterns inspired by nature, architectural gothic motifs, and classical lattice designs to furnish formal gardens and public parks.

These pieces were produced by pouring molten iron into sand moulds to create distinct decorative sections. The individual panels, such as the backrest, seat, and end supports, were then bolted together using wrought iron stretchers or heavy fasteners to provide structural stability.

Authentic pieces exhibit significant weight, crisp detail from original sand moulds, and visible seam lines or original bolt constructions. They often bear foundry stamp marks or registered design numbers cast directly into the iron frame, alongside natural oxidation beneath layers of aged paint.

In modern interior schemes, cast iron benches are frequently used in sunrooms, conservatories, or spacious entrance halls. Styling with neutral linen cushions or placing the piece alongside leafy indoor plants creates a balanced contrast between industrial metalwork and organic elements.

To preserve cast iron, monitor for active flaking rust and brush gently with a wire brush before applying a rust-inhibiting primer. Period paint layers can be left intact to maintain historic patina, while seasonal sheltered storage prevents water accumulation and freeze-thaw cracking.
