This George III period tea caddy takes an octagonal form and exhibits the Georgian style. The piece uses partridge wood veneer in dark brown tones, complemented by boxwood stringing, rosewood cross-banding, and a lozenge-shaped bone escutcheon on the front panel. Surface details include fine geometric inlay framing the lid and body, along with visible grain patterns across the timber. Measuring 11.7 cm high, 12.6 cm wide, and 9.2 cm deep, the caddy functions well on a sideboard top in a living room, dining room, or study. It provides secure storage for small desk accessories or tea collections while serving as a decorative accent piece within an interior.

A Georgian tea caddy is a small lockable container manufactured during the 18th and early 19th centuries to store loose tea leaves. Due to the high financial value of imported tea during this era, these vessels were constructed with locks and positioned prominently within domestic entertaining spaces.

Cabinetmakers utilised native and imported hardwoods including mahogany, satinwood, rosewood, and exotic timbers such as partridge wood. Construction techniques involved thin wood veneers, bone or mother-of-pearl escutcheons, boxwood stringing, and foil-lined internal compartments to protect the tea.

Authentic George III tea caddies exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, period iron or brass locks, and natural timber movement consistent with historical aging. Additional features include hand-planed interiors, era-appropriate keyhole escutcheons, and historic foil or paper compartment linings.

An antique wooden tea caddy functions as a tabletop accent on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or desk. Its compact geometric proportions and distinct timber grain complement modern minimalist surfaces as well as traditional wooden furniture displays.

Maintain timber surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax paste once or twice annually. Position the caddy away from direct sunlight, central heating radiators, and damp conditions to prevent veneer lifting or timber shrinkage.
