Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian furniture, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by lighter proportions, a revival of 18th-century Sheraton and Chippendale motifs, and a shift towards comfort and airiness in interior styling.

Traditional construction typically involved sturdy hardwood frames made from mahogany, walnut, or beech, joined with mortise and tenon techniques, and padded with natural stuffings such as horsehair, wool, and cotton wadding.

Authenticating period furniture involves inspecting the joinery for hand-cut joints, checking for signs of age and patina on the timber, examining the upholstery webbing and springs, and verifying traditional manufacturing methods.

Pairing a classic silhouette with a modern, patterned fabric creates a striking focal point that bridges historical character and contemporary design sensibilities.

Preservation requires keeping the piece out of direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading, regularly vacuuming with a soft brush attachment, and periodically treating exposed wooden elements with appropriate beeswax or furniture polish.
