Pair of Regency Mahogany Bar-back Elbow Chairs (Carvers), Circa 1820 (Georgian Dining Armchairs 19th Century)

18th century
Description

A Fine Pair of Regency Mahogany Elbow Chairs (Carvers), circa 1820

A handsome pair of Regency period mahogany elbow chairs, circa 1820. Each chair features attractively figured timbers, with a curved bar-back top rail above a double plain slat. The drop-in seats are upholstered in a high-quality woven Regency stripe fabric in green, beige, and cream. The open curved arms are supported on ring-turned uprights, continuing through to ring-turned front legs, with elegant curved rear legs.

A quality and well-balanced pair of chairs, sympathetically re-upholstered in period-appropriate fabric, presenting beautifully and ready for immediate use.

Dimensions:

Each chair measures approximately 87 cm (34.25") high, 55 cm (21.625") wide, and 56.5 cm (22.25") deep. The seat height is 49 cm (19.25").

Condition:

Please see the pictures for full details of the item’s condition. These chairs are in good condition, commensurate with age. Structurally sound and sturdy, with no loose joints. The frames show minor marks and light wear consistent with use, including a little wear to the top edges of the bar-backs. A few sympathetic, quality running repairs have been carried out. Recently re-upholstered in period-style striped cloth; one chair has a couple of very small marks to the back of the seat, hardly noticeable. Carefully cleaned, waxed, and serviced in our workshop, they are now very much ready for use.

As with all antique furniture, expect signs of age, marks, and wear.
