This set of six Regency dining chairs provides ample seating for a formal dining room or a traditional breakfast nook. Each chair exhibits a dark brown faux rosewood finish complemented by brass inlay along the curved top rail and a carved central splat. The upholstered cushions are covered in a pale cream fabric, and decorative white tassels hang from the seat corners. Sabre front legs support the seating structure, while the sturdy wood framework maintains a classic silhouette suited for daily use around a dining table. Measuring 86 cm high by 46 cm wide and 46 cm deep, these chairs fit comfortably beneath standard dining tables. Their rich timber tones and understated brass detailing introduce a grand Regency aesthetic into domestic interiors without overwhelming existing decor. Homeowners can arrange them together for coordinated seating during dinner parties or place them individually as accent pieces in living areas and hallways.

FAQs

Regency dining chairs complement both traditional and modern spaces when paired with a contemporary marble or minimalist wooden dining table. The dark wood and detailed brass work create visual contrast against neutral walls and modern artwork.

Dust timber surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid water-based cleaners. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish sparingly around brass inlays to protect the timber without loosening the glue holding the metal decoration.

Authentic Regency chairs feature hand-cut joinery, aged brass inlay showing natural oxidisation, and hand-carved detail work. Check the underside of the seat frame for period construction marks, historic corner blocks, and evidence of original painted finishes or patina.

Cabinetmakers of this era frequently utilised exotic timbers like rosewood and mahogany, as well as native woods finished with painted faux-rosewood graining. Decorative accents were made using cut brass inlays, paired with woven cane or upholstered slip seats.

Regency style dining chairs emerged in early 19th-century England, heavily influenced by Classical Greek and Roman designs. Key characteristics include sweeping sabre legs, brass marquetry or inlay, curved top rails, and carved splats.
