Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Howard and Sons armchairs are renowned for their ergonomic design, deep seats, low profile, and superior comfort. Typical features include down-filled cushions, heavy coil springs, mahogany or walnut turned legs, and signature brass castors.

Victorian armchairs were constructed using hardwood frames, typically oak, beech, or mahogany. Padding consisted of natural horsehair and fibre layered over steel coil springs, finished with woven cotton, velvet, or damask upholstery.

Authentic pieces usually feature maker stamps or printed labels on the inside of the rear legs or on the brass castors. Additionally, original upholstery often features monogrammed ticking fabric bearing the company name.

Victorian armchairs can be paired with contemporary minimalist sofas or positioned alongside modern floor lamps to create a curated contrast. Using tailored linen or modern patterned fabrics helps integrate traditional seating into contemporary colour schemes.

Fabric upholstery should be regularly vacuumed using a soft brush attachment to prevent dust accumulation. Wooden legs require occasional waxing with natural beeswax, and direct exposure to sunlight should be avoided to prevent fabric fading.
