This Regency convex mirror dates from circa 1815 and follows a classic Regency style. The circular frame is constructed from giltwood with gesso, highlighted in gold with a contrasting black inner ebonised reeded slip. Details include spherical ball spherules studded around the moulded frame, a convex glass plate, and a suspension chain attached to metal hardware at the top. The surface displays slightly worn through water gilding revealing underlying tones, and the pine back panel holds its original maker's paper label alongside the original mercury glass plate. Measuring 56 cm high, 56 cm wide, and 7 cm deep, it is practical for compact wall spaces.
