Neoclassical design draws inspiration from classical antiquity, featuring symmetrical proportions, architectural elements like pilasters, and motifs such as swags, urns, and acanthus leaves.

These frames are typically constructed from carved timber, gesso, and plaster elements, often finished with hand-applied paint or leaf, enclosing heavy silvered sheet glass.

Authentication relies on examining the construction joints, the presence of hand-carved details versus molded resin, and indicators of age within the mirror plate such as foxing, oxidisation, and hand-bevelling.

Positioning a large mirror opposite a window maximises natural light and creates an illusion of depth, pairing effectively with both contemporary minimalist furniture and traditional decor.

Maintain the piece by dusting the frame with a soft brush and cleaning the glass using a lint-free cloth with a neutral cleaner, avoiding direct moisture contact with the wooden backing.
