This Victorian overmantle mirror dates to 1880 and takes inspiration from the Neoclassical style. Constructed from giltwood and plaster with a glass plate, the piece has a bright gold finish over its substantial frame. The rectangular looking glass incorporates fluted pilasters on the uprights, an egg and dart moulding along the top cornice, classical frieze decoration across the upper frieze, and ornate scrolls at the base. The bevelled mirror plate remains in good condition alongside small areas of subtle ghosting, and the reverse holds a wooden panelled back.
