Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian ladies vanity box is manufactured from rich brown rosewood with polished timber surfaces and a brass escutcheon on the front. The hinged lid opens to reveal an interior lined with cobalt blue velvet, fitted compartments with mother-of-pearl knobs, two cut-glass jars with silver-plated caps, two glass bottles with stoppers, and a four-piece manicure set. The timber displays natural grain variations consistent with its age, and a working lock with a key secures the chest. Measuring 17 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 20 cm deep, the box fits comfortably on a bedside table, dressing table, or chest of drawers in a bedroom. In a modern home, this piece serves as a decorative storage container for jewellery, small accessories, or daily trinkets. The compact proportions allow placement in various interior settings while keeping valuables organised inside the compartments. The combination of dark wood, vibrant blue velvet upholstery, and gleaming glass creates a functional display object that complements both traditional and contemporary room schemes.

A Victorian vanity box, also known as a dressing case or toilet box, was designed during the 19th century to store personal grooming items, cosmetics, glass bottles, and jewellery for travel or bedroom storage.

These boxes were typically constructed from polished exotic woods such as rosewood, walnut, or mahogany, lined with velvet or silk, and contained cut glass jars topped with silver or silver-plated lids.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, period brass hardware such as keyhole escutcheons and inset hinges, tailored compartment dividers, and original glass containers fitted to the interior.

Place the box open or closed on a bedside table, dressing table, or sideboard to serve as decorative storage for modern accessories and small items.

Dust the exterior wood regularly using a soft microfibre cloth, apply natural beeswax polish sparingly, and vacuum the velvet interior carefully using a low-suction attachment.
