Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE GEORGIAN ERA:
Pierced splats set into carved shoe mouldings: typical mid-Georgian chair construction.
Lighter wood on the arm rests: decades of natural hand wear.
Chamfered inner corners on the legs: standard English cabinet-making of the 1760s.
H-shaped stretchers with mortise and tenon joints: sound mid-18th-century joinery.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

Chippendale style originated in 18th-century England, characterised by rich mahogany construction, intricately pierced back splats, serpentine top rails, and balanced classical proportions.

Traditional Georgian carver chairs were constructed from dense solid mahogany, frequently featuring hand-fitted stretchers and drop-in seats upholstered in leather hide, wool, or silk damask.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut joinery, pegged mortise and tenon joints, honest wear to the stretchers, and dense mahogany exhibiting natural historical oxidisation.

A pair of Chippendale armchairs can serve as carver chairs at the ends of a modern dining table, or function as structured accent seating flanking a fireplace or entryway console.

Dust mahogany frames regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, and treat leather seats with a specialised leather conditioner to preserve elasticity.
