We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

These two Georgian Chippendale style armchairs are made from dark brown mahogany with brass studs, blue velvet upholstery and clear rectangular profiles. Each chair stands on square legs connected by an H-stretcher, supporting a saddled seat and a high back featuring an intricate pierced fretwork splat. The timber shows a polished finish, the upholstered seats have a neat border of small brass tacks, and the armrests curve outward at the ends. Measuring 89 cm in height, 62 cm in width and 55 cm in depth, these seating pieces function well in a gentleman's library, study or formal living room. They provide comfortable armchair seating at a desk or around a central table while adding traditional Scottish craftsmanship to the interior decor scheme.

Originating in the mid-to-late eighteenth century, Chippendale style carver chairs are characteristically crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany and feature intricate openwork back splats, curved armrests, and sturdy leg frames designed for dining or study settings.

Traditional construction relies on dense timbers like Cuban or Honduras mahogany, joined with mortise and tenon wood joinery, complemented by stuffed woven upholstery fabrics such as velvet, fixed with metal studding.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-carved details with minor asymmetry, hand-cut dovetails on frame blocks, natural patination across exposed timber, and historical wear on structural corner stretchers.

Pairing carver armchairs alongside a contemporary desk, flanking a tailored sideboard, or positioning them on either side of an entrance console introduces historic structure and rich texture to contemporary spaces.

Dust mahogany frames using a soft microfiber cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, while keeping velvet upholstery clear of dust using a low-suction vacuum attachment.
