Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This George III open armchair displays substantial proportions in warm brown mahogany with a visible aged patina. The construction includes a shaped top rail with carved scrolled mouldings, a wide pierced splat, outswept arms with protruding carved scrolled knuckles on moulded supports, a drop-in seat frame raised on square legs united by an H-stretcher, and damask upholstery in muted green and cream. Measuring 99.1 cm high, 74.9 cm wide, and 53.3 cm deep, this elbow chair provides a functional seating option for a living room, study, or hallway. Traditional English Country House styling allows this Georgian seat to integrate smoothly with classic or transitional interior schemes. The solid timber framework and clean lines support daily use around a dining table, desk, or reading corner. Reupholstering the fabric remains an option to match existing domestic colour palettes, while the original frame offers historic character and sturdy construction.

Popularised during the 18th century, George III mahogany open armchairs typically feature serpentine crest rails, pierced central splats, and sweeping arms, reflecting Chippendale and classical influences.

Craftsmen utilised dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, joining timber with traditional mortise and tenon joints, supported by H-stretchers and drop-in upholstered seats.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, original patination on unexposed timber, hand-carved decorative splats, and signs of age such as shrinkage or wear around stretchers and feet.

Position the armchair as an accent seat in a bedroom, place it beside a study desk, or pair it with contemporary upholstery to contrast rich timber tones against modern schemes.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth, apply high-quality beeswax twice yearly to protect the finish, and keep the chair away from direct sunlight or central heating radiators to prevent wood warping.
